Overview

The Territory-wide Identity Card Replacement Exercise has commenced since 27 December 2018. Holders of the old form of smart identity card have been invited by phases, in accordance with the replacement schedule, to apply for a new smart identity card at the dedicated Smart Identity Card Replacement Centres (SIDCCs). The last application date for replacement of new smart identity cards at the SIDCCs will be extended from the original date, 11 February 2023 to 3 March 2023 while the identity card collection service will be maintained through to 3 March 2023.

The Territory-wide Identity Card Replacement Exercise covers all Hong Kong residents, regardless of whether they are permanent residents or non-permanent residents who are permitted to take employment (including foreign domestic helper), make investment, reside or study in Hong Kong.
